Die Caliber 41 Swiss for Precision Reloading and Shooting
Die Lee Limited Production 2-Die Set Caliber .41 Swiss (10.4x38mm Rimmed Swiss Vetterli)
This precision-engineered kit includes two high-quality steel dies specifically designed for the meticulous reloading and resizing of the .41 Swiss cartridge, also known as the 10.4x38mm Rimmed Swiss Vetterli. Ideal for metallic and semi-metallic cartridge handloaders, this set ensures optimal case preparation and bullet seating for enhanced ballistic performance and consistent chambering.
The set comprises the following components:
Resizing Die: This die is engineered to recalibrate the cartridge case by removing the spent primer and slightly expanding the neck of the brass casing. This step is critical to restore the case dimensions to factory specifications, ensuring reliable chambering and extraction in vintage Swiss Vetterli rifles.
Bullet Seating Die: Fully adjustable, this die allows precise control over bullet seating depth, enabling the handloader to set the projectile at the optimal position within the case neck. It also initiates the case neck crimp, securing the bullet firmly in place. Caution is advised to avoid excessive crimping, which can deform the case neck by creating a rolled or rizo closure, potentially compromising cartridge integrity and ballistic consistency.
For applications requiring a robust crimpparticularly when loading for lever-action or semi-automatic firearmsit is recommended to use the dedicated Factory Crimp Die (Ref. 99857). This specialized die permits a strong, uniform crimp without damaging the case, thereby enhancing feeding reliability and safety under rapid cycling conditions.
Additionally, the kit includes a Shell Holder compatible with standard reloading presses, ensuring secure case retention during resizing and seating operations.
A Powder Measure (cacillo) is provided to facilitate accurate and consistent powder charges, critical for maintaining safe chamber pressures and optimal ballistic performance.
The package also contains a Reloading Data Chart tailored for this caliber; however, it is important to note that the chart does not include Spanish powder specifications. Reloaders should consult appropriate ballistic manuals or powder manufacturer data to select suitable propellants.
For best results and to prevent case damage during resizing, it is essential to lubricate the cartridge cases thoroughly before running them through the resizing die. Proper lubrication minimizes friction and case sticking, preserving brass longevity and ensuring smooth press operation.
This Die Lee Limited Production 2-Die Set is an indispensable tool for precision handloaders and collectors working with historic Swiss Vetterli cartridges, combining durability, accuracy, and ease of use to optimize every stage of the metallic and semi-metallic reloading process.
