Mold 452-230-TC for Precision Hunting, Shooting, and Reloading Bullets

90290

LEE 2-Cavity Bullet Mold designed specifically for caliber .45 ACP, .45 Auto Rim, and .45 Colt (Long Colt) cartridges, offering precision and reliability for metallic and semi-metallic reloading applications.

This mold produces high-quality .452 diameter, 230-grain truncated cone (TC) bullets optimized for consistent performance in .45 ACP, .45 Auto Rim, and .45 Colt (Long Colt) handloads, ensuring superior ballistic accuracy and terminal effectiveness.

Featuring a ballistic coefficient of .146, these bullets provide an excellent balance between velocity retention and stability, making them ideal for precision shooting and hunting scenarios where reliable trajectory and energy transfer are critical.

LEE’s 2-cavity molds are engineered for reloaders seeking a cost-effective yet professional-grade solution for bullet casting. Manufactured from corrosion-resistant aluminum blocks, these molds offer enhanced durability and longevity under rigorous casting conditions.

Aluminum construction allows for faster thermal cycling compared to traditional iron molds, enabling quicker heating and cooling phases. This results in improved casting efficiency and reduced downtime during extended reloading sessions.

Additionally, the aluminum blocks weigh approximately one-third less than iron or steel molds, significantly reducing operator fatigue during prolonged bullet production runs and facilitating easier handling and maneuverability.

The mold halves are securely clamped together using robust wooden-handled tongs, ensuring zero movement or misalignment during the molten lead pour. This tight seal guarantees uniform bullet dimensions and reduces the risk of casting defects.

Note that bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific lead alloy composition used, allowing reloaders to fine-tune their loads for optimal performance.

The included tongs feature ergonomic wooden grips for comfortable handling and enhanced control during the casting process.

Integrated within the mold is a practical sprue cutter blade that efficiently trims the lead sprue, facilitating clean release of the finished projectiles and minimizing post-casting cleanup.

For best results, it is highly recommended to thoroughly degrease the mold before initial use and periodically during operation. Applying a light smoke coating or a specialized mold treatment product will further enhance bullet release and mold longevity.

Never lubricate the interior cavity of the mold, as this can adversely affect bullet surface quality and dimensional accuracy.

Lightly lubricate the sprue cutter screw to maintain smooth operation and prevent seizing during repetitive casting cycles.
