LEE Die Set for .338 Lapua Magnum Reloading
Lee 2-Die Set for Caliber .338 Lapua Magnum Reloading
This comprehensive three-die steel kit is engineered specifically for precision reloading of the .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge, a high-performance round favored by long-range shooters and tactical marksmen. Each die is meticulously crafted to ensure consistent case resizing, bullet seating, and crimping, optimizing ballistic performance and cartridge longevity.
The set includes the following dies:
Full-Length Sizing Die: This die performs full recalibration by removing the spent primer pocket and slightly expanding the case neck diameter. It ensures the brass is restored to proper dimensions for reliable chambering and consistent neck tension, which is critical for maintaining accuracy and safe pressure levels during firing.
Bullet Seating Die: Adjustable for precise bullet seating depth, this die allows the handloader to set the projectile at the optimal depth within the case neck. Proper seating depth is essential to maintain consistent overall cartridge length (OAL) and to initiate the neck tension required for secure bullet retention. Care must be taken to avoid excessive case neck crimping at this stage, as over-crimping can deform the brass and negatively impact accuracy.
Factory Crimp Die: Designed to apply a controlled and uniform crimp to the case mouth, this die enables the handloader to securely lock the bullet in place without damaging the brass. This is particularly recommended for cartridges intended for lever-action or semi-automatic rifles, where robust bullet retention is necessary to prevent bullet setback or feeding malfunctions under recoil.
Additional components included in the kit:
Shell Holder: Compatible with standard reloading presses, the shell holder securely grips the case base during resizing and seating operations, ensuring precise alignment and consistent die engagement.
Powder Measure Scoop: Facilitates accurate and repeatable powder charges, critical for maintaining consistent muzzle velocities and safe internal ballistics.
Load Data Chart: Although not featuring Spanish powder specifications, this chart provides essential reference load data for various powders suitable for the .338 Lapua Magnum, aiding reloaders in selecting safe and effective charge weights.
Note: It is highly recommended to lubricate the brass cases thoroughly before full-length resizing to prevent case sticking and to extend the life of both the dies and the brass.
