6 Cavity Mold 429-240-2R (Mold Clamps Not Included)

90339

LEE Casting Mold featuring 6 precision-engineered cavities designed specifically for .44 Special, .44 Remington Magnum, and .44-40 Winchester Center Fire (WCF) calibers. This high-performance mold is optimized for the production of high-quality cast bullets, ideal for metallic and semi-metallic reloading applications.

Each cavity produces bullets with a diameter of .429 inches and a weight of approximately 240 grains with a 2-Ring design, ensuring consistent ballistic performance and reliable chambering in compatible firearms.

Compatible with popular handgun and rifle cartridges including .44 Special, .44 Remington Magnum, and .44-40 WCF, this mold is engineered to meet the demanding standards of precision shooters and reloaders.

Featuring a ballistic coefficient (BC) of .196, these bullets offer a balanced trajectory and energy retention, making them suitable for both target shooting and hunting scenarios where accuracy and terminal performance are critical.

Constructed from a durable aluminum block with corrosion-resistant steel bushings, the mold incorporates precision alignment pins to guarantee perfect cavity alignment during casting. This design minimizes flash and ensures uniform bullet dimensions for consistent reloading results.

Aluminum molds like this one heat and cool significantly faster than traditional iron molds, allowing reloaders to reach optimal casting temperatures more quickly and maintain them with greater efficiency. This thermal responsiveness translates into increased throughput and reduced downtime during long casting sessions.

Additionally, the lightweight aluminum construction reduces operator fatigue during extended use, weighing approximately one-third less than comparable iron molds without sacrificing durability or performance.

The two aluminum halves are securely clamped using specialized mold handles (not included), preventing any movement or misalignment when pouring molten lead or lead alloys into the cavities. This stability is essential for producing defect-free cast bullets with clean, sharp details.

Equipped with an anodized, extra-hard sprue plate and cutter, this mold ensures a clean and precise cut of the bullet sprue, eliminating excess material and minimizing post-casting cleanup. The sprue plate design enhances casting efficiency and bullet uniformity.

Note that bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific lead or alloy composition used during casting, so reloaders should verify weights and dimensions to ensure compliance with their load data.

Mold handles for opening and closing the mold are sold separately under reference number 90005. It is highly recommended to use these specialized handles for safe and effective mold operation.

Prior to initial use, thoroughly degrease the mold to remove any manufacturing residues. Additionally, seasoning the mold by smoking it or applying a recommended mold release agent will improve bullet release and extend mold life.

Never apply grease or lubricant to the interior cavity surfaces, as this can cause casting defects and unsafe bullet dimensions.

Lightly lubricate the sprue plate retention screw to ensure smooth operation and prevent seizing during repeated use.
