Mold TL452-200-SWC for Reloading and Casting Semi-Wadcutter Bullets
LEE TL 2-Cavity Mold for .45 ACP Caliber Reloading
Designed specifically for precision handloaders and ballistic enthusiasts, this LEE TL 2-cavity bullet mold produces high-quality projectiles tailored for the .45 ACP cartridge. Each cavity casts a .452-inch diameter bullet weighing approximately 200 grains, featuring a Semi-Wadcutter (SWC) profile optimized for reliable feeding and terminal performance.
The bullet design incorporates a ballistic coefficient of 0.127, providing a balanced trajectory and energy retention suitable for both target shooting and defensive applications.
This mold is engineered with micro-groove lubrication rings, enhancing the bullets lubrication retention during firing, which reduces barrel leading and improves overall accuracy. The micro-engraved lubrication grooves ensure consistent application of lubricant, critical for maintaining optimal barrel condition and shot-to-shot consistency.
Constructed from high-grade aluminum alloy blocks, LEEs 2-cavity molds offer excellent thermal conductivity, allowing for faster heat dissipation and quicker cooling cycles compared to traditional iron or steel molds. This thermal efficiency translates into increased production rates and reduced cycle times during bullet casting sessions.
Aluminum molds also provide a significant ergonomic advantage, being approximately one-third lighter than their iron or steel counterparts. This reduced weight minimizes operator fatigue during extended casting periods, making it ideal for reloaders who demand both quality and comfort.
The mold halves are securely clamped together using robust wooden-handled handles, ensuring zero movement or misalignment during the molten lead pour. This precise alignment is essential for producing uniform bullets with tight dimensional tolerances, critical for consistent ballistic performance.
Note that final bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the lead alloy composition used, as different alloys have varying densities and melting characteristics.
The mold includes integrated handles with heat-resistant wooden grips for safe and comfortable handling. Additionally, it features a practical built-in sprue cutter blade that efficiently trims excess molten lead from the bullet base, facilitating clean separation and reducing post-casting cleanup time.
For optimal mold longevity and bullet quality, it is highly recommended to thoroughly degrease the mold before initial use. Applying a light coat of mold release agent or seasoning the mold with smoke from a candle or specialized mold treatment products can further enhance bullet release and mold protection.
Important: Never lubricate the interior cavity surfaces of the mold, as this can lead to inconsistent bullet dimensions and potential defects.
Lightly lubricate the sprue cutter screw mechanism to maintain smooth operation and prevent corrosion over time.
