All cases undergo a specialized heat treatment process designed to enhance tensile strength and durability, extending the service life of each brass casing through multiple reloading cycles. This thermal annealing process optimizes the balance between hardness and malleability, allowing the case to securely hold the projectile while providing the necessary flexibility to expand and contract upon firing.
These are new, unfired, and unprimed brass cases, manufactured from high-quality virgin brass stock. Prior to loading, it is essential to trim the cases to the correct length and chamfer the case mouth to ensure smooth bullet seating and consistent pressure levels.
Due to the nature of manufacturing and transportation, case mouths may occasionally exhibit slight deviations from perfect roundness. To guarantee a perfectly concentric and round case mouth, it is recommended to run the cases through an expander die. This step will re-round the case neck and slightly flare it, facilitating easier bullet seating and preventing bullet deformation during assembly.
Reloaders should also inspect each case mouth for any burrs or sharp edges and deburr as necessary to avoid damage to the bullet jacket or seating die.
It is common to observe discoloration or spotting on the neck and body of new brass cases. This is a normal byproduct of the annealing process, where the brass is rapidly heated to a precise temperature and then quickly cooled.
