Starline Brass Cases for .38 Super Comp Caliber – Bulk Pack of 100 Units

Starline Precision Ammunition Components is dedicated to maintaining the tightest manufacturing tolerances possible on every metallic cartridge case they produce. Each brass case is engineered with meticulous attention to dimensional accuracy, ensuring optimal chamber fit and consistent ballistic performance for competitive shooting and precision reloading applications.

All Starline .38 Super Comp brass cases are manufactured strictly within SAAMI (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute) specifications. These cases undergo specialized heat treatment processes designed to enhance the metallurgical properties, resulting in superior tensile strength and extended case life under the repeated stress of high-velocity semi-metallic loads.

Constructed from premium new, unfired brass with no primer pockets pre-primed, these cases provide reloaders with a clean, uniform foundation for custom handloading. Prior to loading, it is recommended to trim the case length to specification and chamfer and deburr the case mouth to ensure smooth bullet seating and prevent projectile damage.

Due to manufacturing variances and transportation handling, the case mouths may not always maintain a perfectly concentric, round profile. To guarantee optimal bullet seating and consistent neck tension, it is advisable to run the case mouths through an expanding die. This process will re-round the neck and slightly flare the mouth, facilitating easier bullet insertion and improved neck tension retention during firing.

Reloaders should also inspect and remove any residual burrs or sharp edges from the case mouth prior to loading to avoid bullet deformation and ensure reliable chambering and cycling in semi-automatic pistols or competition firearms.

It is common to observe discoloration or spotting on the neck and body of new brass cases. This is a normal byproduct of the annealing process performed by the manufacturer. Annealing involves rapidly heating the brass to a precise temperature followed by controlled rapid cooling, which optimizes the hardness and ductility of the case neck and shoulder areas.

This thermal treatment imparts the necessary mechanical properties to securely hold the projectile while allowing the case neck to expand and contract during firing and resizing cycles without cracking. The visible staining is simply a residue from this essential heat treatment and does not affect the performance or reliability of the brass cases.
