Starline Nickel-Plated .45/70 Government Brass Cases, Box of 100 Units (Bulk Packed)

Starline Ammunition Components is dedicated to maintaining the tightest manufacturing tolerances possible on every metallic cartridge case they produce. Each .45/70 Gov. brass case is engineered with precision to ensure consistent dimensions and reliable chambering for optimal ballistic performance in both hunting and target shooting applications.

All cases are manufactured strictly within SAAMI (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute) specifications, incorporating advanced heat treatment processes and proprietary metallurgical designs to enhance tensile strength, durability, and longevity under repeated firing and reloading cycles. This ensures that each nickel-plated case withstands the high pressures generated by smokeless powder loads while maintaining structural integrity.

These are new, unfired brass cases with no primer pockets pre-primed, allowing reloaders full control over primer selection and seating. Prior to loading, it is recommended to trim and chamfer the case mouths to ensure uniform bullet seating and to prevent jacket damage during the seating process.

Due to manufacturing tolerances and transportation handling, case mouths may not always be perfectly concentric or round. To guarantee proper bullet alignment and seating, it is advisable to size the case necks using an expander die. This step will re-round the necks and slightly open them, facilitating smooth projectile insertion and consistent neck tension.

Additionally, deburring the case mouths and removing any residual flash or burrs is essential before loading to avoid bullet deformation and ensure safe chambering.

New brass cases may exhibit discoloration or spotting on the neck and body surfaces. This is a normal result of the annealing process performed by the manufacturer, which involves rapid heating to a precise temperature followed by quick cooling. Annealing softens the brass in the neck area, providing the necessary ductility to securely hold the bullet while allowing expansion and contraction during firing and resizing.

These annealing marks are purely cosmetic and do not affect the structural integrity or performance of the cartridge cases. Reloaders can expect reliable, consistent performance from these premium nickel-plated .45/70 Government cases, ideal for metallic and semi-metallic reloading applications targeting big game hunting, precision shooting, and historical firearm restoration.
