Starline Brass Cases for .460 S&W Magnum – Bulk Pack of 100 Units

Starline Precision Ammunition Components is dedicated to manufacturing brass casings with the tightest possible production tolerances, ensuring each metallic cartridge case meets rigorous industry standards for reliability and performance in high-pressure handgun calibers.

Each .460 S&W Magnum brass case is meticulously produced within SAAMI (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute) specifications, incorporating advanced thermal treatment processes designed to enhance the structural integrity, tensile strength, and longevity of the cartridge cases. This specialized heat treatment optimizes the metallurgical properties of the brass, providing superior resistance to deformation and fatigue during repeated firing cycles.

These cases are made from premium new, unfired brass with no primer pockets pre-primed, allowing reloaders full control over the priming process. Prior to loading, it is essential to trim and chamfer the case mouths to ensure proper bullet seating and consistent chamber pressure, which are critical for precision handloading and ballistic consistency.

Due to manufacturing tolerances and handling during shipment, the case mouths may exhibit slight deviations from perfect roundness. To guarantee optimal bullet alignment and seating, it is recommended to run the cases through a neck-expanding die. This operation will simultaneously re-round the case necks and slightly flare the mouths, facilitating smooth bullet insertion and minimizing the risk of bullet setback or deformation during the reloading process.

Reloaders should also inspect and remove any residual burrs or flash from the case mouths after trimming and neck expanding to maintain consistent chambering and prevent damage to the projectile or barrel rifling.

It is common to observe discoloration or spotting on the neck and body of new brass cases. This surface patina results from the annealing process—a controlled heat treatment applied by the manufacturer involving rapid heating to a precise temperature followed by swift cooling. Annealing softens the brass in the neck and shoulder areas, imparting the necessary ductility to securely hold the bullet while allowing the case to expand and contract reliably during firing and extraction cycles.

These annealing marks are purely cosmetic and do not affect the structural integrity or performance of the brass cases. Properly annealed brass significantly enhances reloadability by reducing the risk of neck splits and improving case life, making these Starline .460 S&W Magnum cases an excellent choice for precision handloaders and competitive shooters seeking durable, high-quality cartridge components.
