LEE 2-Cavity Bullet Mold for .30 Caliber Rifle Reloading

This precision-engineered LEE bullet mold features two cavities designed specifically for .30 caliber rifle projectiles, ideal for handloaders and ballistic enthusiasts seeking consistent performance and accuracy in their reloads.

The mold casts bullets with a diameter of .309 inches and a weight of approximately 170 grains, optimized for use with Gas-Chek® style bases, compatible with popular cartridges such as .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and other similar .30 caliber rounds.

With a ballistic coefficient of .268, these bullets offer excellent aerodynamic efficiency, contributing to improved downrange stability and velocity retention, essential for precision shooting and hunting applications.

LEE’s 2-cavity molds provide a cost-effective solution for reloaders who demand high-quality bullet casting tools without compromising on durability or performance. Manufactured from corrosion-resistant aluminum blocks, these molds resist oxidation and maintain dimensional integrity over extended use.

Aluminum molds exhibit faster thermal response compared to traditional iron or steel molds, allowing quicker heating and cooling cycles during casting sessions. This thermal efficiency reduces downtime between pours and enhances productivity for volume bullet casting.

Additionally, the lightweight nature of aluminum—approximately one-third the weight of iron or steel molds—reduces operator fatigue during prolonged casting periods, improving comfort and control while handling the mold and tongs.

The two halves of the mold are securely clamped together using sturdy wooden-handled tongs, ensuring zero movement or misalignment during the molten metal pour. This tight seal guarantees precise bullet dimensions and consistent weight distribution across all cast projectiles.

Note that bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific lead alloy composition used, including variations in tin, antimony, and other metallic additives common in semi-metallic bullet casting alloys.

The included tongs feature ergonomic wooden grips for enhanced handling safety and heat insulation. The mold is equipped with a practical sprue cutter blade integrated into the design, facilitating clean separation of the bullet from the sprue and minimizing post-casting cleanup.

For optimal mold longevity and bullet quality, it is highly recommended to thoroughly degrease the mold prior to initial use. Additionally, seasoning the mold by smoking it or applying specialized mold release compounds helps prevent lead adhesion and promotes smooth bullet extraction.

Never apply grease or lubricant inside the mold cavities, as this can degrade bullet surface finish and interfere with proper metal flow during casting.

Lightly lubricate the sprue cutter screw to maintain smooth operation and prevent seizing, ensuring consistent sprue trimming throughout your casting sessions.
