LEE 2-Cavity Bullet Mold for .45/70 Caliber, 458 Winchester Magnum, and .460 Weatherby Magnum

Precision-engineered .459 caliber bullet mold designed to cast 500-grain 3R Gas-Chek projectiles optimized for .45/70 Government, 458 Winchester Magnum, and .460 Weatherby Magnum cartridges.

Ballistic Coefficient: .443, providing excellent aerodynamic efficiency and stable flight characteristics for long-range accuracy and consistent terminal performance.

LEE’s 2-cavity bullet molds represent an exceptional choice for metallic reloaders and precision shooters seeking high-quality bullet casting tools at a competitive price point. These molds deliver consistent bullet dimensions and weight uniformity critical for precision handloading.

Constructed from high-grade aluminum alloy blocks, LEE molds offer superior corrosion resistance compared to traditional cast iron or steel molds, ensuring long-lasting durability in demanding reloading environments.

Aluminum molds exhibit faster thermal cycling, cooling, and heating rates than iron molds, allowing reloaders to achieve efficient casting cycles and maintain optimal bullet quality throughout extended casting sessions.

The lightweight nature of aluminum—approximately one-third the weight of iron or steel molds—reduces operator fatigue during prolonged casting operations, enhancing user comfort and productivity.

Each mold’s two halves are securely clamped together using robust wooden-handled tongs, eliminating any movement or misalignment during the molten lead pouring and solidification process, which is essential for producing precision bullets with clean parting lines.

Note: Bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific lead alloy composition and casting temperature used by the handloader.

The mold package includes ergonomic wooden grips on the tongs for safe and comfortable handling, along with an integrated sprue cutter blade that efficiently severs the lead sprue, facilitating the release of perfectly formed projectiles.

For optimal mold performance and longevity, it is highly recommended to thoroughly degrease the mold prior to initial use. Additionally, seasoning the mold by applying a light coating of mold-specific lubricant or “smoking” the mold enhances bullet release and prevents lead adhesion.

Important: Never apply grease or oil inside the mold cavities, as this can cause defects in bullet surface finish and compromise casting quality.

Lightly lubricate the sprue cutter retaining screw to ensure smooth operation and prevent seizing during repeated use.
