6 Cavity Mold C358-158 SWC (Pliers Not Included)

90327

LEE Casting Mold featuring 6 cavities specifically engineered for the .38 Special, .357 Magnum, and .38 Colt New Police calibers, designed for precision bullet casting and reloading applications.

This mold produces bullets with a diameter of .358 inches and a weight of approximately 158 grains, utilizing a Semi-Wadcutter (SWC) profile optimized for Gas-Check compatibility, ensuring superior gas seal and enhanced ballistic performance.

Compatible with popular handgun cartridges such as the .38 Special, .357 Magnum, and .38 Colt New Police, this mold is ideal for reloaders seeking consistent bullet dimensions and weight for reliable terminal ballistics.

Featuring a ballistic coefficient (BC) of .117, these projectiles offer balanced aerodynamic efficiency suitable for both target shooting and self-defense scenarios.

Constructed for high-volume production of cast lead bullets, the mold is engineered to withstand rigorous use in metallic and semi-metallic reloading workflows.

The mold block is precision-machined from high-grade aluminum alloy and reinforced with corrosion-resistant steel bushings. It incorporates alignment pins to guarantee perfect cavity alignment, minimizing flash and ensuring uniform bullet shape.

Aluminum molds like this one heat up and cool down significantly faster than traditional iron molds, allowing reloaders to reach optimal casting temperatures more rapidly, thereby increasing throughput and efficiency during casting sessions.

Additionally, the aluminum construction reduces the overall weight by approximately two-thirds compared to iron molds, mitigating operator fatigue during extended casting operations.

The dual aluminum blocks are securely clamped using specialized mold handles (not included), preventing any unwanted movement during the pouring of molten lead, which is critical for maintaining bullet integrity and uniformity.

Equipped with an anodized, extra-hard sprue plate featuring an integrated pour basin and cutter, this mold ensures a clean, precise cut of the bullet sprue, minimizing post-casting cleanup and enhancing overall bullet quality.

Note that bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific lead alloy composition used during casting, which can affect density and hardness.

Mold handles for opening and closing the mold are sold separately under reference number 90005 and are recommended for safe and efficient mold operation.

Prior to initial use, it is essential to thoroughly degrease the mold to remove any manufacturing residues. Additionally, seasoning the mold by smoking or applying a mold release agent specifically formulated for bullet molds is advised to improve bullet release and extend mold life.

Never lubricate the interior cavities of the mold, as this can adversely affect bullet surface finish and dimensional consistency.

Lightly lubricate the sprue plate retaining screw to ensure smooth operation and prevent seizing during repetitive casting cycles.
