Description
What it is and what it does
The AVATA S50 is a thermal clip-on designed to be mounted in front of a daytime rifle scope to provide thermal imaging without the need to re-zero the scope. It is intended for observation and scoped shooting where thermal detection is required.
Key characteristics
It features an uncooled VOx detector with 1280 × 1024 pixel resolution and a 50 Hz frame rate. The unit uses an OLED display with 1 920 × 1 080 pixel resolution. The objective lens is 50 mm with 1× optical magnification and digital zoom steps of 1×, 2× and 4×. The field of view at 100 m is indicated as approximately 30.72 × 24.58 m. The detector pixel pitch is 12 m and NETD is specified below 15 mK.
Power and storage
Power is supplied by an external pack using two 18500 batteries and a USB-C 5 V input. Reported runtime is about 6 hours and fast charge time is around 1 hour. The device includes 64 GB internal memory for recording.
Durability and mounting
The unit is rated IP67 and has a shock rating of 7000 J. Compatibility with recoil from calibres including .223 Rem, .234 Win, .270 Win, .308 Win, .30-06 SPRG, 9.3×62 and .300 Win Mag. It mounts as a front clip-on and no re-zeroing is required. Adapter thread is M52×0.75.
