Vector Optics Continental x8 2-16x50 ED SCOM-45

What it is and what it is for:
The Continental x8 2–16x50 ED (model SCOM-45) from Vector Optics is a riflescope designed for hunting (varmint and game) and hunting shooting. It includes a BDC reticle to assist in quick target acquisition and range compensation.

Key features:
It offers 2–16x magnification with a 50 mm objective and a 30 mm tube. Optics use ED glass (German Schott HT) with VePRO Fully Multi-coated lenses and manufacturer-stated light transmission above 93%. It is a second focal plane (SFP) scope. Eye relief is 95 mm (3.8 in). Overall length 345 mm and weight 672 g. Field of view ranges from 11.7° to 1.46° (linear at 100 yd: 61.5–7.69 ft).

Adjustments and focus:
Turrets click at 1/4 MOA with elevation and windage ranges over 110 MOA. The top turret is capped and a DIY spare elevation turret option is included. Side focus/parallax adjustment covers from 20 yards to infinity.

Reticle and illumination:
VET-10 BDC reticle in SFP, illuminated with 11 brightness levels. The reticle manual provides subtensions and ballistic tables designed for .223 with examples for .308, .30-06, .270 and 5.56. Illumination uses a CR2032 battery (battery type specified by the manufacturer).

Durability and sealing:
Constructed from 6061-T6 aluminium with a matte black finish. Nitrogen-filled (fogproof), rated IP67 waterproof and specified 750 G shock resistance.

Compatibility and contents:
The manufacturer states the BDC reticle follows a .223 trajectory and supplies tables for other calibers; the tube/design suit common hunting calibers. Listed accessories include a DIY spare elevation turret, sunshade, lens caps, cleaning cloth and manual.
