6 Cavity 9mm-120-TC Mold (Tongs Not Included)
LEE Casting Mold featuring 6 precision-engineered cavities designed specifically for 9mm Luger, .38 Super, and .380 ACP calibers. This mold is expertly crafted to produce high-quality, uniform lead and semi-metallic bullets optimized for competitive shooting, self-defense, and target practice applications.
Each cavity produces bullets with a diameter of .356 inches and a weight of approximately 120 grains, utilizing a traditional truncated cone (TC) profile. This bullet design offers excellent ballistic performance with a ballistic coefficient of .123, ensuring stable flight trajectories and consistent terminal ballistics for enhanced accuracy and penetration.
Compatible with popular handgun calibers including 9mm Luger, .38 Super, and .380 ACP, this mold is ideal for reloaders seeking to maximize efficiency and precision in their bullet casting process.
Constructed from high-grade aluminum alloy with hardened steel bushings, the mold block is engineered for durability and corrosion resistance. The inclusion of steel alignment pins guarantees perfect cavity alignment, minimizing flash and ensuring consistent bullet dimensions with every cast.
Aluminum molds offer superior thermal conductivity compared to traditional iron molds, allowing for faster heat-up and cool-down cycles. This thermal efficiency reduces downtime between pours, enabling a higher rate of bullet production during extended casting sessions.
Additionally, the lightweight nature of aluminum moldsapproximately one-third the weight of iron counterpartssignificantly reduces operator fatigue, making them ideal for long casting periods without compromising precision or safety.
The dual aluminum blocks are securely clamped together using specialized mold handles (not included), preventing any movement or misalignment during the pouring of molten lead or lead alloys. This stability ensures uniform bullet formation and reduces the risk of defects.
Equipped with an anodized, extra-hard sprue plate and cutter, this mold facilitates a clean, precise cut of the bullet sprue, eliminating excess material and minimizing post-cast finishing work. The sprue plates durability ensures long-lasting performance even under heavy use.
Note that bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific alloy composition used during casting, including pure lead, lead-tin mixtures, or lead-antimony blends commonly employed in metallic and semi-metallic bullet production.
Mold handles for opening and closing the casting blocks are sold separately under reference number 90005. It is highly recommended to acquire these handles to ensure safe and efficient mold operation.
Prior to initial use, thoroughly degrease the mold to remove any manufacturing residues. It is also advisable to season the mold by applying a recommended mold release agent or by lightly smoking the cavities to enhance bullet release and prolong mold life.
Never lubricate the interior cavity surfaces, as this can negatively affect bullet quality and mold longevity. However, apply a light coating of lubricant to the sprue plate retention screw to maintain smooth operation and prevent seizing.
