6 Cavity Mold TL358-158-2R (Tongs Not Included)
LEE Cast Bullet Mold featuring 6 precision-machined cavities specifically designed for .38 Special, .357 Magnum, and .38 Colt New Police calibers. This mold is engineered for high-efficiency bullet casting, ideal for handloaders and ballistic enthusiasts seeking consistent projectile performance.
Each cavity produces bullets with a diameter of .358 inches, weighing approximately 158 grains in a 2R (two-ring) configuration, optimized for reliable chambering and ballistic stability.
Compatible with popular handgun calibers including .38 Special, .357 Magnum, and .38 Colt New Police, this mold supports versatile reloading applications across a range of semi-automatic pistols and revolvers.
Featuring a ballistic coefficient (BC) of .207, these cast bullets offer a balanced trajectory and energy retention suitable for target shooting, self-defense, and hunting scenarios.
Constructed for high-volume casting, the mold facilitates rapid production of lead and semi-metallic projectiles, ensuring efficiency in your reloading workflow.
The mold body is crafted from high-grade aluminum alloy, incorporating durable steel bushings and precision alignment pins to maintain cavity integrity and resist corrosion over extended use.
Aluminum construction provides superior thermal conductivity compared to traditional iron molds, allowing faster heat-up and cooldown cycles. This results in quicker attainment of optimal casting temperatures, enhancing throughput and bullet consistency.
Additionally, the aluminum blocks are approximately one-third lighter than their iron counterparts, significantly reducing operator fatigue during prolonged casting sessions.
The two aluminum halves are securely clamped using specialized mold handles (not included), preventing any lateral movement during the molten lead pouring process and ensuring uniform bullet formation.
Equipped with an anodized, extra-hard sprue plate and cutter, this mold delivers precise trimming of sprues for clean, fully separated cast bullets, minimizing post-cast finishing time.
Note that bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific alloy composition used during casting, so adjustments to powder charges may be necessary for optimal ballistic performance.
Mold handles for opening and closing the mold are sold separately under reference number 90005, recommended for safe and efficient operation.
Prior to initial use, it is highly advisable to thoroughly degrease the mold to remove any manufacturing residues. Applying a recommended mold seasoning product or light smoke coating will improve bullet release and prolong mold life.
Never lubricate the interior cavity surfaces of the mold, as this can adversely affect bullet quality and mold longevity.
Lightly lubricate the sprue plate retaining screw to ensure smooth operation and prevent seizing during repeated use.
