Mold TL401-175-SWC for Casting Semi-Wadcutter Bullets

90431

LEE TL 2-cavity bullet mold designed specifically for .40 S&W and 10mm calibers, engineered to deliver precision and consistency in bullet casting for metallic and semi-metallic reloading applications.

Featuring a .401 inch diameter, this mold produces 175-grain Semi-Wadcutter (SWC) projectiles optimized for .40 S&W and 10mm cartridges, ideal for handloaders seeking superior ballistic performance and reliable terminal ballistics.

Incorporates micro-groove rifling on the bullet surface to enhance lubricant retention, ensuring optimal bullet-to-barrel engagement and reducing leading during firing cycles.

Boasts a ballistic coefficient (BC) of approximately .141, contributing to improved external ballistics, flatter trajectories, and enhanced downrange accuracy for target shooting and defensive applications.

LEE’s 2-cavity molds represent a cost-effective solution for precision bullet casting, offering consistent bullet weight and dimensions while maintaining affordability for both novice and experienced reloaders.

Constructed from high-grade aluminum blocks, these molds exhibit excellent corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity, facilitating rapid heating and cooling cycles compared to traditional iron or steel molds.

The aluminum construction reduces overall mold weight by approximately one-third relative to iron or steel counterparts, minimizing operator fatigue during extended casting sessions and improving handling ergonomics.

Each mold half is securely clamped with wooden-handled tongs to eliminate any movement or misalignment during the molten lead pour, ensuring uniform bullet cavity filling and consistent projectile geometry.

Note that bullet weights may vary slightly depending on the specific lead alloy composition and casting temperature used by the reloader.

The mold package includes wooden-handled tongs for safe and precise mold manipulation during casting operations.

Equipped with an integrated sprue cutter blade that efficiently severs the lead sprue, facilitating clean release of finished bullets and reducing post-casting cleanup time.

For optimal mold longevity and bullet quality, it is highly recommended to thoroughly degrease the mold prior to initial use and to apply a suitable mold seasoning agent or smoke treatment to enhance release properties.

Never lubricate the interior cavity surfaces of the mold, as this can adversely affect bullet surface finish and dimensional accuracy.

Lightly lubricate the sprue cutter screw to maintain smooth operation and prevent corrosion, ensuring consistent sprue trimming performance over time.
